Nod vs. Scrin

In this match-up speed is important and keeping your enemy at a low tech level is critical. Although the late game Nod units and support powers are quite powerful in 1.09, a teched up Scrin can still be a major headache. Keeping the Scrin player busy early in the game with Shadow Teams or Attack Bikes and Raider Buggies is a good start.

Use the summoned Shadow Teams to destroy any possible expansions and use the third to stop possible Disintegrator Rushes. The 2 Riflemen should protect your Tiberium Spike from Buzzer attacks. Out of the War Factory, build a Harvester or two, then mass Scorpions, switching to Avatars and Stealth Tanks in the late game. Use Venoms as needed. Do not forget the Mine Drop power. This can be used on groups of Seekers or Devourers, tipping the scales of battle in your favor.

Harass Harvesters where he does not have his War Factory. From there you can kill one elsewhere if you stay focused. After that, spam Scorpions and change to Avatars and Stealth Tanks when teched up. Use Venoms as needed. Remember to use your support powers wisely too, especially the Mine Drop.

• Hand of Nod: A bit of infantry always, but do not overdo it, unless you're going for a Scorpion-spam build. Just like against a GDI player, if you run into a large group of Seekers or Devourers, use Fanatics in the first wave of defense. Black Hands also work well against Seekers and Devourers.

What should I do with my army?

Always flank with small groups of Scorpion Tanks. For example, send five north. Then if you see your enemy going north, retreat them, and send five south. Another options is to go head on with some infantry and Scorpions, but it is rare to come out ahead against a primarily Devourer or Tripod army, especially without the Laser Upgrade. Yet another option is to go for all infantry, but make sure you have protection from Buzzers such as Raider Buggies or Venoms,.

After teching up, amass Avatars with Venoms cover. Adding Stealth Tanks to handle air units or kill Harvesters, is also a good option. It is critically important to keep Scorpions alive until you have access to Avatars. These can be used to flank your opponent for harassment or can provide an extra punch when Avatars clash against Tripods.

My opponent is spamming a lot of infantry, what should I do?

There are many options to choose from. Raider Buggies and Venoms work extremely well, as do Black Hands and Flame Tanks. The Cloaking Field, Tiberium Vapor Bomb and Catalyst Missile are also effective. Keep in mind, if your opponent is using Plasma Disc Launchers, any aerial based counter should be mixed with a ground based counter.

Get a hold of them always. Some Scrin players do not even garrison the bunkers, so holding the Tiberium Spikes should be easy with a bit of awareness.

Use them when you can, but do not use a Catalyst Missile if there is just one Refinery or Harvester on a Tiberium field. Keep in mind that the Catalyst Missile can also be used to destroy Growth Accelerators. The Tiberium Vapor Bomb should be used to destroy Technology Assemblers, but be careful since the Armageddon Bomber is fragile. Remember to make use of the Seed Tiberium power early and often to keep up with your opponent’s late game economy.
